Do you have an idea that you can see Mt. Fuji in Metropolitan Tokyo? In fact, yes, you can. Although its shape is small far away, but It’s enough to Japanese people, that beauty is the same. At any rate, it's very unique landscape combined the highest mountain in Japan and high raised buildings of big city.
However, you are not able to see it anytime.
The best season to see the Mt. Fuji is winter season. From December to February. The chance of Mt. Fuji viewing is much higher than any other season.
I’d like to share my favorite spots near Tokyo to see Mt. Fuji.
◎Tokyo
No.1; Tokyo Metropolitan government office building in Shinjuku ward.(202m height) It’s located in the very center of Tokyo and it’s free of charge. Not only Mt. Fuji viewing, the panoramic Tokyo landscape makes you feel overwhelmed.
No.2; Carrot Tower in Setagaya ward. The height is 124M, that level is really nice to see Mountains and towns.

No.3; Jimba Mountain in Kanagawa. I visited again recently, andI was moved by the stunning view of Mt. Fuji. I think that's because it was winter. It was first time to be able to see Mt. Fuji in the clear sky and range of mountains. I had visited there at another season before. That's why I recommend to see it in winter. Plus, you can drink delicious coffee enjoying Mt Fuji. It's a blissful moment!

No.4; Hakone in Kanagawa. Hakone is the most popular tourist place as a lot of hot springs, nature, museums and Lake Ashi, which command Mt. Fuji. Luckily, once I enjoyed both cherry blossom and Mt.Fuji viewing in May!

No.5; Zushi Marina and Hiroyama Park, both near sea side in Kanagawa. At the sun set you can experience gorgeous time with Mt. Fuji.
◎Yamanashi prefecture
No.6; Kawaguchi lake in Yamanashi. This is really close to Mt. Fuji. The Fuji seems to stand by you! Anyway, you can't be felt this dynamic shape anywhere else but in Yamanashi.
No.7; Also, you can see Mt. Fuji traveling on bullet train to Osaka or Kyoto. Here is a tip, you should reserve your seat at the right side.
Because the Mt. Fuji will appear at your right side. (When from Osaka or Kyoto to Tokyo, at your left side) You will find the foot of Mt.Fuji.

Thanks, Kumi. We were lucky enough to be able to see Mt. Fuji from our hotel, The Four Seasons. Yes, it was very far away! Next time - we'll go closer.
