Beer town, Ebisu

In this topic, I’d like to tell you about the one of the towns in Tokyo, Ebisu. Ebisu town is located next to Shibuya which is famous for Shibuya crossing.

The name Ebisu in this city was actually derived from the name of beer!

It’s interesting isn’t it? From beer!

If you are a beer freak, you might have heard of beer names, Kirin, Sapporo, Ebisu.

Those are popular Japanese beer names.

First, a beer brewery was built in this area in 1889, and their beer product name was Ebisu. This beer got very popularity and this area became vigorous. Gradually people started to call this area Ebisu. Then this town changed its name Ebisu in 1928. Since then this town became the beer town both in name and reality! Although, the beer brewery factory doesn’t exist anymore, at the same place, there is the Ebisu beer museum. And this is really fun place. You can learn the history of the company. Of course, you can also enjoy beer with exceptional taste. It’s a very luxurious place.

Another thing in this area, there is a park with a public toilet which was designed by a world famous architect, Fumihiko Maki. It's wonderful for everyone to be able to use the restroom designed by a world-famous architect for free!

Beautiful restroom.

Also there is even a tree at inner area!

This park seems really common park at a glance, but a few things make this park special, that is the special designed restroom, a unique octopus play equipment, and some cherry trees. They are all nice! By the way, the nickname of this park is Octopus Park!

And around this park, there are many restaurants and bars which are remaining good-old days atmosphere.

As I always say, the city of Tokyo is really exciting and inspiring to think wherever you go. That's why you can walk anywhere.
