You probably know that Japanese people love cherry blossom and enjoying cherry blossom viewing party under the trees (called Hanami in Japanese) in every early spring. I'd like to tell you how important that flower it is to our Japanese life.
In our school system, the graduation ceremony is held in the late March, and the entrance ceremony in early April. That is the very same time of the cherry blossoms season in Tokyo and other prefectures around Tokyo. So, it's repeated in elementary school, junior high school, high school, and university. While you grow up, the special times of your life has been along with the cherry blossoms.
We have a lot of songs of cherry blossom lyrics. You resonate with those lyrics at somewhere of your school days. When you listen to that song, which brings back to school memories. You could say cherry blossom can be special existence to each persons' life.
Above pictures are my kids' school in winter. No leaves and just brown color.
Below pictures are same place in a cherry blooming season. That's very differnt landscape. Cherry blossoms watches over the children every year.
Needless to say, cherry blossom is beautiful, even though the color is pale and flower is small and faint aroma. When the blooming season comes, almost all regions have cherry trees, many places are colored by cherry blossoms. And in some places roads are lined a lot of cherry blossoms. It's pretty gorgeous.
We have an announcement of the timing of this year's cherry-blossom blooming. it's declared by Meteorological Agency. That sign is five flowers are being blooming. People are waiting for its declaration, and TV crews are gathering to make an announcement of the declaration before a few days. We have enormous enthusiasm for cherry blossom.
We also enjoy its falling in flakes. That is like being snowing. The ground turns into pink carpet.
We love whole things of cherry blossoms.

Thanks Kumi. The Cherry Blossom information was very interesting. I was so glad we toured Tokyo with you in Cherry Blossom season.. We loved seeing the beautiful trees all over Japan. Very special time of the year.
